disPLAY lore:

disPLAY is a website that empowers designers to create their own fonts out of found materials. this is a nostalgic attempt to develop an information resource devoted to teaching the skill of font making. follow along with my anachronistic process of creating a water font using water, saran wrap, a scanner, the preview app on mac, adobe image trace, and calligraphr. thanks for joining the initiative! how to use disPLAY:

the disPLAY method uses four to five steps to encourage play in your craft

1. choose

when ready, you will begin by brainstorming...

2. create

without hesitation, immediately after brainstorming, you will attempt to create as many letter forms as possible using your recent choices

3. capture

once a project evolves from the chaos of the previous step, you may document using any type of capturing method

• scanner

• fax machine
4. digitize

you can process your font into a .ttf or .otf file using "caligraphr", a free font making website

5. share

you have the choice of sharing your work to the disPLAY platform for others to enjoy
